EDITORIAL WORK
NORTH BY NORTHWESTERN
As editor-in-chief (Nov. 2017-June 2018), I oversaw a 30-person online editorial staff and led online publishing four out of five nights per week. I also communicated with the print editor as they led production on a 64-page quarterly magazine. I trained a predominantly new online staff during winter 2018 and mentored one of the highest numbers of first-year editors on my winter and spring staffs.
Concurrently, as president of North by Northwestern, I worked with our publisher to become a university-recognized student group. I developed an alternative printing plan with the print editor and publisher on short notice, after the magazine's longtime printer significantly raised its rates.
As senior online features editor (Jan.-June 2019), I edited and published print-quality stories for the website, like a look at how a student suicide affects campus and a ranking of campus buildings. I worked with multimedia editors to coordinate story art and production.

KANSAS CITY MAGAZINE
As contributing calendar editor (Jan. 2018-March 2020), I curated and wrote the front-of-book event previews for 25 monthly print issues. I previewed a mix of popular music, theater, performing arts, fine art, comedy, talks, sports and festivals, requiring a broad and deep understanding of culture and city life. I communicated with venue and event publicists to source photos and information for the magazine. I adapted the calendar section through multiple redesigns and supervising editors.
PEOPLE
As an editorial intern in the American Society of Magazine Editors program, I fact-checked front-of-book reported "Scoop" stories, "People Picks" reviews, and packages including the "100 Reasons to Love America," fall TV preview and Emmys preview.
